About Dr. George
Robert “Skip” George, D.C. owns and operates La Jolla Sport and Spine. La Jolla Sport and Spine is an injury/pain treatment, rehabilitation, and training facility located at Optimum Fitness and Health in the heart of the village of La Jolla, CA. He not only treats and rehabilitates injuries but provides performance training and lifestyle coaching as well.
He brings over 30 years of chiropractic care and integrates rehabilitation, fitness training and nutrition. He is one of only a handful of sports medicine practitioners that “bridges the gap” between chiropractic, rehabilitation and fitness training. He provides an individualized and highly effective approach to the needs of patients and clients not only wanting to feel better, but to improve their health, fitness, and well being.
Patients that have worked with Dr. George include a wide range of age, physical ability, and health or disease conditions. He has treated professional athletes, high school and college athletes, executives and everyday people of all ages that want to stay fit, functioning well and healthy. He has been a consultant to the S.D.S.U., U.C.S.D. and Michigan strength and conditioning departments. He enjoys an excellent relationship with other physicians of all specialties in San Diego County.
He is certified by the American Chiropractic Board of Rehabilitation (ACRB), is a Certified Chiropractic Sport Practitioner (CCSP)and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He is also an instructor for the Functional Movement Screen (FMS). In addition, he is a Distinguished Life Member of the California Chiropractic Association.
Dr. George has spoken nationally on health issues including management of sport concussion, bridging the gap for a chiropractic, rehabilitation and sports practice, and the Functional Movement Screen. He also speaks publicly to groups that are interested in defining and treating topics like stress, wellness, nutrition, healthy aging and fitness programs. In addition, he has taught personal trainers how to be more clinical in their approach to training programs for their clients and is an adjunct professor at Southern California University of Health Sciences.
